Natalia Dumitresco

Romanian/French, 1915-1997

Dumitresco moved with her husband Alexandre Israti to Paris in 1947 and worked in a studio next door to sculptor Constantin Brancusi. Dumitresco’s style of painting followed the movement of the Post – War trends that evolved in the School of Paris circle. Beginning in 1952 Dumitresco wins many prestigious awards such as in 1952 the award of the group “Espace”, in 1955 the “Kandinsky Award” and in 1957 “Le Prix des Amateurs et Collectionneurs d’Art” to name a few. This early period in the 1950’s is the finest of Dumitresco’s and will further be explored by historians and collectors in the future as this school of painting is more critically reviewed.
