Genre painter who specialized in hunting scenes and still lives.
Eugene Petit painted charming images of hunters out with their dogs capturing a moment of action, often with the dogs alert and on point.
As well, he specialized in florals and still lives.
Petit was a student of Edouard Muller and Dieterle. He exhibited in the Paris Salon, making his debut in 1863 and continuing to exhibit through 1885. He was awarded a third class medal in 1873.
He also exhibited in the Lyon Salon, a city which has a renowned tradition of flower painting.
