A student of d'Allongé and of Pelouse, member of the Societé des Artistes Francais from 1888, Rigolot exhibited in the Salon receiving awards in 1889, 1891, 1892, 1900 at the Exposition Universelle, and was awarded the Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1901. Rigolot inscribed to the Barbizon tradition of paintings with a naturalist concept of riverbanks and pond scenes dosed with a perfectly controlled sense of light, distinctive tonality of color and a poetic sensibility.
Rigolot also painted scenes of Algeria in the north of Africa and was a
Member of the Société des Orientalistes Francais. The artist’s studio was located on the Rue Singer in the 16th Arrondisement in Paris and he exhibited regularly at the Paris Salons from 1886 onwards.
The Museums of Nancy, Luxembourg, Rouen, Cambrais and the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Paris conserve works by the artist in their collections.
