From 1871 to early 1875, Sisley live in Voisins-Louveciennes, the probable location of this work. Situated on the left bank of the Seine above Bougival, about seventeen kilometers from Paris, the village attracted many of the Impressionists, including Pissarro and Renoir, both of whom also lived there. This recently discovered paintings displays the artist’s ability to portray light on snow, a hallmark of his as well as Monet’s work from the early 1870s.
