Born in Paris, Georges Dantu exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and at the Salon des Orientalistes. He was represented by Devambez Gallery, as well as Galerie Georges Petit.

Specializing in winter landscapes and views of Japan, he obtained a certain level of success in his lifetime with his beautiful fields of flowering irises, his walls of hanging wisteria on water banks, and his views of Fujiyama.

His most well-known work is conserved in the collection of the Musée Carnavalet in Paris. It is an intriguing image of a bronze rhinoceros, under the snow in the Trucadéro Gardens of Paris.

Dantu was as well a tenor in the Opéra Comique and a soloist in concerts at the Colonne and Lamoureux theaters in Paris.

This unique and highly individualized artist’s work is characterized by a delicate and refined palette, an ethereal, dreamlike mood, and imagery that capture the imagination.
